Products and catalog
The product catalog is backed by the Inventory module. Each product belongs to a site and can be used by flows such as the public catalog, cart, checkout, or POS when those modules are enabled.
Product information
The current schema supports fields including:
- name and description;
- sale price;
- purchase/unit cost;
- stock;
- minimum stock;
- category;
- barcode;
- SKU;
- supplier;
- unit of measure;
- image;
- active/inactive status.
Not every field is mandatory.
Active and inactive products
A product can remain stored while marked inactive. This keeps its information without treating it the same as an available-for-sale product.
Stock and checkout
When an inventory product is involved in a purchase, checkout can reserve, confirm, or release stock depending on the transaction state. Avoid manually changing stock while debugging an active purchase without first checking the related order.
Barcode and SKU
- Barcode: can be used for compatible scanner/look-up flows.
- SKU: the business's internal product identifier.
They are different fields and can coexist.
Cost, price, and margin
The cost field stores product cost and can support margin/report calculations. Sale price is separate.
Public catalog
The backend provides public inventory lookup for products associated with the site. Final catalog appearance depends on the site's page/blocks and publishing state.
If visual catalog changes are not visible publicly, check whether the site has unpublished changes.
